Dr. Silvia Kemunto

I am a highly dedicated, organized, and competent medical practitioner with over 5 years of experience in diagnosing mental health disorders, behavioral issues, and providing quality treatment to patients. Highly experienced in reviewing the treatment plan and providing treatment suggestions for patients who are new or not improving as expected. Adept at advising on appropriate medications and other treatment strategies, also providing the care team with educational support on diagnosing and managing behavioral health conditions. I am also a good communicator and team player with ability to work collaboratively with other health care managers to oversee the status and population health of the assigned patient caseload.

I hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree as well as a Masters of Medicine degree in Psychiatry from the University of Nairobi. In addition, have a course in epidemiology from the University of Harvard in conjunction with Nelson Mandela. I also worked with the UNODC as a research supervisor on a national study on prevalence of substance abuse in the National Police. I am a Current lead consultant of mental health for the Agha-khan Social Welfare Board.
I am also a Mental health advocate for the transgender community in Kenya, Lead consultant psychiatrist for Jinsi Yangu organization. I am an Anchor Psychiatrist at Chiromo lane Mental hospital as well as a Resident Psychiatrist at Mathare Hospital Nairobi and currently the Executive and Managing Director at Mental Health Planet Speciality Clinic Ltd.

In addition, I am Consulting for the Transgender Education Advocacy (TEA) - Creating awareness on Gender incongruence, intersex disorders. Co - Investigator PTSD TNX 102 Trial, Consultant Psychiatrist, Kenya Commercial Bank/ National Bank of Kenya, Member of the National Police Service Special Medical Board and a Consultant psychiatrist; Young African Works Project, KCB Foundation.

I am a passionate mental health advocate through active participation at Global and National Platforms on various mental health topics in a lifetime quest to break the stigma limiting access to quality mental healthcare.

Dr. Elizabeth Imudu

I am a patient centred Psychiatrist with over 5 years’ experience in clinical practice, having worked as a Senior House Officer in Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital which is Kenya’s inaugural public mental health hospital and Kenyatta National Hospital’s Psychiatric Department, while in my post graduate training. I work in Baringo County Referral Hospital as the Head of Psychiatry leading a team of mental health professionals including Medical Officers and Interns in both a teaching and clinical practice capacity. I also work with community health workers to create awareness about mental health in the county. Currently, I work in Mental Health Planet which is a premiere clinic in Chiromo Hospital Group where my roles include working in hand with psychologists in reviewing and developing management plans for both inpatient and outpatient clients with mental illness. I approach health holistically with the aim of aiding clients in improving their quality of life whilst fostering mental resilience and wellness. I am skilled in the diagnosis, treatment and care of children, adolescents and adults with mental disorders and in psychotherapeutic approaches to management.

I hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree as well as a Masters of Medicine degree in Psychiatry from the University of Nairobi. In addition I have certifications in Adolescent Development from the School of Public Health, University of Michigan; a training which addressed the socio-ecological approaches to adolescent development including cultural and contextual influences on it. It also focused on adolescent risk and resilience and the influence of developmental factors on adolescent mental health issues to name but a few. I also have a certificate on Adolescent Psychiatry from the International Psychiatry Synapse 2022. I am certified by NACADA for a Basic Universal Treatment Curriculum Training which took part in three phases. It is a program for addiction professionals that ensures they acquire competency and skills in accordance with the National Standards for Treatment and Rehabilitation of persons with Substance Use Disorders.

I have also submitted a research thesis in reproductive psychiatry that focused on unmet reproductive health needs among women with mental illness, for publication in the University of Nairobi. I endeavor to pursue more research into psychiatry’s both chartered and unchartered territories.
I aim to be an effective communicator who easily builds affinity with multidisciplinary staff, patients, caregivers, and the community to deliver comprehensive care.

I am a member of the Kenya Psychiatric Association and Eastern Africa Young Psychiatrists and Trainees Association, Kenya chapter.

James Mwathi

A committed and all rounded Psychologist and mental health advocate with a passion for mental health and related disorders.

Inspiration comes from interacting with people dealing with mental health challenges, walking with them to full health and the need for mental health disorders to be treated like any other medical illnesses as we reduce stigma.

Has worked for the last 12 years as a Counselor, Senior Counselor and Clinical Services Coordinator in some of the leading Rehabilitations and Mental Wellness centers in the country.

Martin Munyagia

I am a youth and children educator with over a decade of progressive work experience in child protection and safeguarding, community mobilization, project management, peer guidance and counseling, youth programs facilitation and mentorship, youth empowerment, life skills and family reunification, especially for adolescent children among others.

I have worked as Program Manager for Scholar Welfare (Equity Group Foundation) and Child protection – (Collective Community Action). I have been a short-Term Consultant in Life skills Training for UNODC, Part time Lecture – Child Safeguarding & Case Management (Tangaza University College). I am also a board member CEFA Kenya and Stahili Foundation

I have a BA, Youth and Children Studies from Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Certified Trainer of Trainers with Corporate Staffing Services, Certified Professional Mediator from Mediation Training Institute Australia and Basic Counselling Skills Training Kenya Association of Professional Counselors
